It hasn’t
been easy.
“Hello… I have called you because, with Patrizio Esposito
from L’Alfabeto Urbano and Enzo Lipardi from CUEN… from
Naples… yes, from Naples… we have thought about promoting
a portfolio to raise money for Palestine… We would like to
know if you are interested in an enterprise of this sort…”
- Yes, yes… do you know what I say? … It’s been
ten years that anybody has asked me for something like this…”
- “What? For Palestine?…no,no… I have already
done thousands of things like this… You should try someone
else now…”
- “Of course…what’s the format?…Black and
white or colour?…”
- O.K… I’ll do it… but can you call me back after
the holidays?… Anyway I’ll do it”
- “Look… before anything I want to thank you for your
attention, but I have to say no… Look… if it was about
South Africa I’d say yes, but on Israel I really don’t
want to do it…”
- “Ok… also…could ask two others who would certainly…
Who?… no…it’s a waste of time that you try…
he doesn’t give a darn about it…”
- “Yes… I agree with you… it isn’t possible
that they are attacked everyday like that and no one does anything
to stop them…”
- “No, I can’t… I’m moving…”

Do you what I say?… There are people who are this way, who
don’t know how to say no to nobody… On this question,
I have my own ideas that I hold and refuse your proposal…”
- ‘OK… forget about the messenger… I’ll

It
hasn’t been easy, but at the same time it hasn’t been
that difficult either. They say that this generation isn’t
very suitable for the realization of a movement like this. They
say that this age of mass media presents the picture of a hreo as
someone who has the perfect clothes, hair, car and home. Whose interests
are centered on a narcisistic self with very little thought to the
suffering of others.
Kufia is the demonstration that this idea of “modern”
humanity is not so. A large and qualified number of authors have
invested ideas, feelings and their own cleverness in this undertaking.
Therefore Kufia is an “opinionated” impression proposed
with the convinction (horror!) that in Jerusalem and its souburbs
there are “the good and the bad”
To all the authors a very touching Thank you.
But Kufia must also have its birth in the “rock throwing youth”,
those who have been killed by the target shooting of the Israeli
Army and those who continue to show everyday more determination,
boldness, and an aware-ness of victory.
We are trying to pay this debt by collecting useful money for the
liberation of those who have been imrpisoned by the Israelians.
The battle of the “rock throwing youth” against the
arrogant and the fanatical who are against reason and history must
continue. The “rock throwing youth” will have a land
and a state that belongs to them.
It will not be easy, on the contrary todat it would seem imposible,
but everyone, EVERYONE, knows that it will be.
