Kufia, 1988-2004
Nei giorni della prima intifada del 1988, il Comitato Bir-Zeit, l'alfabeto urbano e la Cuen di Napoli, con il sostegno de il manifesto, Smemoranda e numerose organizzazioni di solidarietà con la Palestina, pubblicarono il portfolio "Kufia, matite italiane per la Palestina". I disegni originali, introdotti da un testo di Stefano Benni, furono esposti in oltre 70 città italiane, a Gerusalemme, in uno stracolmo teatro Hakawati assediato dall"esercito israeliano e poi a Tel Aviv e in molti villaggi palestinesi e israeliani. Le tv del mondo arabo aprirono i loro notiziari, il 3 gennaio 1989, con le immagini dall'unico teatro ancora agibile dei territori occupati, affollato per l'inaugurazione di Kufia da palestinesi, israeliani e cittadini di vari paesi. Il calendario delle mostre in Europa fu interrotto, un anno dopo, per il furto dei disegni: qualcuno fermò il furgone del corriere che trasportava gli originali e li rubò. Contemporaneamente, i promotori dell'iniziativa, con la sigla "Kufia - il manifesto", lavoravano, insieme a molte realtà artistiche, a diversi progetti. Con Paolo Fresu, Eugenio Colombo e altri musicisti italiani, e con il coro dei bambini palestinesi "Al Aqsa" di Tunisi, fu inciso il disco "Canto per la Palestina". Vauro scrisse e disegnò "Stato di Palestina, viaggio in una terra negata". Furono pubblicati il portfolio "L'intifada nell'obiettivo di otto fotografi italiani", con un testo di Igor Man, e il libro "Palestina fiabe", illustrato da Daniele Brolli e curato da Wasim Dahmash. Le varie iniziative si svilupparono nell'arco di tre anni, fino ai devastanti bombardamenti Usa sull'Iraq del 1991. La partecipazione degli autori all'edizione del 1988 fu curata da Patrizio Esposito e Guido Piccoli, con le collaborazioni di Giacomo Forte, Canio Lo Guercio, Guglielmo Di Zenzo, Vittorio Ercolano. La nuova edizione, a partire dal 2002, è stata curata dagli stessi promotori del primo portfolio in collaborazione con Stefano Ricci e con il contributo di Daniele Brolli, Giuseppe Palumbo, Gianluca Costantini e Inguine, Flavia Ponzi, Angela Bernal, Francesco Esposito. I progetti recenti di Kufia sono coordinati da Paola Ghiglione, responsabile nazionale dell'associazione Kufia Onlus.

Kufia oggi per il futuro
Un nuovo capitolo, nel solco di questi anni di progettualità intorno alla causa del popolo palestinese. Dal 2004 le attività di Kufia sono coordinate da Inguine.net con la collaborazione di un network di siti e persone che cercheranno di portare avanti e potenziare il messaggio e la progettualità che sta alla base di questa iniziativa.
Sulla scorta dell'esperienza maturata con i lavori del Piccolo Network su guerra, informazione e censura, intendiamo muoverci cercando di spingere in avanti e in dialettica tra loro, tutte le forme di comunicazione che ci vedono coinvolti puntando - in questo modo - a socializzare energie, esperienze, strumenti. Tutti i progetti di Kufia gireranno nella città, nei luoghi ospitali e in quelli proibiti. La rete costruita con questo progetto non è chiusa è definita, ma al contrario ha le maglie larghe, è permeabile e aperta. Chiunque voglia supportare Kufia, nei modi e con le forme che ritiene opportune, chiunque voglia proporre un luogo o idea per iniziative ci può contattare:

Kufia, 1988-2004
In the days of the first Intifada in 1988, the Bir-Zeit Committee, Urban Alphabet and Cuen in Naples, with the support of Il Manifesto, Smemoranda and various organizations in solidarity with Palestine, published the portfolio "Kufia, italian pencils for Palestine”. The drawings, introduced by forewords from Stefano Benni, were exposed in beyond 70 Italian cities, in Gerusalem, in a overcrowded Hakawati theatre besieged from the Israeli Army and then in Tel Aviv and in many Palestinian and Israeli villages. On the third of January, 1989, all of the Arabic TV channels opened their news with the images of the last theatre of the seized lands - still fit for use - crowded with Palestinian, Israelis and citizens of several countries for presentation of Kufia. The shows in Europe were interrupted, a year after, for the theft of the drawings: someone stopped the van of the courier that transported the originals and stole them. At the same time, the promoters of the event, with the acronym "Kufia - Il Manifesto", were working simultaneously with many artists and on different subprojects. With Paul Fresu, Eugenio Columbo and other Italian musicians, and with the chorus of the Palestinian children "Al Aqsa" of Tunisi, the disc "Chant for Palestine" was recorded. Vauro wrote and designed "State of Palestine, a travel in a seized land". Various books were published and among them a portfolio entitled "The Intifada in the works of eight Italian photographers ", with words from Igor Man, the book "Palestina fiabe", illustrated from Daniel Brolli and edited by Wasim Dahmash. The several initiatives were developed in a three year-time, until the US started bombing and devastating Iraq in 1991. The participation of the authors of the 1988 was cured by Patrizio Esposito and Guido Piccoli, in collaborations with Giacomo Forte, Canio Lo Guercio, Guglielmo Di Zenzo, Vittorio Ercolano. The new edition, edited from the same promotors of first portfolio in collaboration with Stefano Ricci with the contribution of Daniel Brolli, Giuseppe Palumbo, Gianluca Costantini and Inguine, Flavia Ponzi, Angela Bernal, Francisco Esposito, started in 2002. The new works for Kufia are coordinated by Paola Ghiglione, national representative for the association Kufia Onlus.

Kufia today and in the future.
Another chapter is starting, to continue pleading palestinian cause. Since 2004, Kufia's events have been coordinated by Inguine.net, with the collaboration of some web-sites and some people, trying to continue and support this message. Using the skills we got working on Piccolo Network, dealing with war, information and censoreship, we are going to mix together all forms of communications that we normally use, our aim being to exchange energies, experiences and tools. All Kufia projects will travel the cities, in hospitable and not hospitable places. this project is not closed and defined, on the contrary it is open and can be easily changed. * Utilizzate il template di photoshop per tradurre in bassa risoluzione il vostro lavoro che invierete a Design(Radar in formato gif (il peso non deve essere superiore a 20 kb, 800x600 px);
